A visit from a Missionary

Hey Youth Group parents,

Thanks to all who came last week! We had a great time jumping at Gravity Zone and playing a bit of laser tag. I don’t mean to brag but I did beat a few of the youth and a bunch of 6-7 year olds at laser tag.

This Friday night we have Chris Adams coming to speak about life in East Timor as a Missionary. He (and his wife Grace and son Micah) have been doing great work over there, and so Chris will come to share his insights into life with us. He’ll particularly pick up our theme of identity for the youth. That must be one of the things that hits you the most moving overseas, especially to a country where English is not the first language. How does it impact your identity when you leave your home town, community, language, culture etc? Chris will help us explore this a bit more.

Have you had to move away from family and friends before? Have you had to move away from your country, culture, first language before? How did it impact your identity? What are the greatest factors that determine your identity now?

Thanks all and see you Friday! Cheers, Chris
